Online Exams

Online exams can be taken for some of the Edexcel subjects, but they have only recently been made available, so the subjects offered are currently limited. However, we expect the subjects available to expand over the next year.

Online exams are available on-screen and paper-based, depending on the subject; both variations can be taken from home. Sitting exams online can help alleviate some of the stress students feel when sitting their exams, as the environment is more comfortable.

How do online exams work?

Online exams require students to have access to three separate devices: a computer with a webcam, a device with a camera behind them, and a device to record their exam on. These three devices ensure students aren't cheating, and the recording will be submitted as proof of independent completion.

Similar to in-person exams, online exams are to be taken in silence and completed independently without assistance. Being able to sit exams from home does, however, create a more comfortable environment for sitting exams, alleviating some of the stress students may feel. The time provided for the exam will be disclosed to students when sitting their exams, as well as beforehand by their teachers.

Online exams come in two formats: screen and paper-based. Both formats are sat from home, but paper-based exams require students to print out their exam just before the exam starts. Please note that you will need access to a printer should you choose a paper-based online exam. Paper-based exams are handwritten and scanned in at the end.
